The early 1980s were a time of great hopes and equally great challenges for Radom. On Poland's sporting map, among the league giants, Radomiak Radom, though respected, remained on the fringes of the top-tier competition. The dream of playing in the elite, then the I Liga (today's Ekstraklasa), had flickered in the hearts of the Zieloni fans for decades, passed down from generation to generation in the stands of our Stadium.

The 1983/84 season, however, proved to be a turning point. From the very first rounds of the II Liga, it was clear that an extraordinary energy resided within the Zieloni squad. Under coach Józef Antoniak, the Radomiak team was a blend of experience and youthful enthusiasm. Every home match was a celebration, and away games became expeditions from which our players returned with increasingly valuable points. The league table gradually aligned in favor of the Radom team, and the atmosphere around the club intensified with each victory.

Key moments of the season included a series of incredibly fiercely contested matches, in which the Zieloni showed character and a will to fight. It wasn't easy; opponents were strong, and the pressure grew with each successive round. But it was precisely in these difficult moments that Radomiak's true strength revealed itself. A point earned here, a victory snatched there – every detail built a solid foundation for historical success. With the arrival of spring, as the grass on the pitch took on a more intense green, the coveted promotion became increasingly realistic.

The decisive moment arrived in June 1984. After a fantastic season finish, the Zieloni secured first place in their II Liga group, thus achieving direct promotion to the I Liga. Radom exploded with joy. Spontaneous parades filled the city streets, and fans, who had dreamed of this moment for years, could finally celebrate a historic triumph. It was more than just a sporting success – it was a symbol of unity, perseverance, and the fulfillment of a dream for the entire community. Every resident of Radom felt a part of this achievement.

That promotion to the I Liga was a cornerstone for many subsequent generations of players and fans. It showed that Radomiak Radom, with its humble beginnings, was capable of fighting for the highest goals. Even if the adventure in the elite lasted only one season, the memory of how the Zieloni first burst into the salons of Polish football remained vivid. This memory still inspires, reminding us that with determination and unity, one can achieve things that seemed impossible. It is precisely thanks to such moments that a club's true legend is built.
